Waah Chai — Digital Chai Adda logoTAPRI

Why Waah Chai?

The internet has never been more connected, yet it often feels increasingly sterile. Feeds are algorithmic, conversations are performative, and social spaces are optimized for metrics rather than human connection. We built Waah Chai to offer an alternative: an informal, interactive social space modeled after a traditional Indian chai tapri.

The Power of the Adda

In India, an adda is more than just a place to drink tea. It's an informal gathering spot where people from all walks of life sit, drink chai, and talk. It is a space defined by serendipity, warmth, and conversation.

Waah Chai takes the spirit of the physical adda and translates it into a digital experience. Rather than scrolling through a timeline, visitors enter a pixel-art world. You can sit on a stool, listen to music on the radio, and strike up a conversation with someone nearby using proximity chat.

Play and Presence

We believe that social interaction is easiest when there is shared context. That's why Waah Chai incorporates play. Whether it is flicking a striker on the carrom board or trying to time a biscuit dunk perfectly, these interactions break the ice and create shared presence.

Waah Chai is not a game to be beaten, nor is it a productivity tool. It is simply a place to be.
